Our Practitioners

We currently have three practitioners at Bright Room Community Acupuncture: Sam Ma, Sara Rajadel, and Andrew Nuttall. As well as being passionate about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, we are all fully trained and insured acupuncturists.

Sara obtained her Bachelor of Science Acupuncture degree at the University of Portsmouth after studying three years at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA) and one year at the University of Westminster.
Coming from a western medical background and having worked as a community
pharmacist for over 10 years, Sara decided to study Chinese medicine in order to help people with a more holistic approach.
Sara is also very keen in using Nutrition to aid the healing process and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Chinese Nutrition by the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM).
Feeling so passionate about Chinese Medicine herself, Sara has always wanted to make it possible for people from different socio-economic backgrounds to have access to acupuncture treatments.
Sara also practises at FIRM (Fun in Recovery Management) – a social service provided by the Hammersmith & Fulham council – to help people on a substance misuse program, at Yogahome in Stoke Newington, and from her home in Hackney.
Sara has been practising Tai Chi and Qi Gong at the Mei Quan Academy of Tai Chi London for health maintenance since 2008.

Andrew Nuttall

Andrew Nuttall, acupuncture practitioner in Stoke Newington

Andrew Nuttall practices at Bright Room.

Andrew originally trained to become a psychologist, but during these studies he realised that he was more drawn to Eastern philosophies and holism.
This lead him to begin training in Martial Arts and energy work. He studied Qigong (Chi Gung) with Sifu Shi Yanzi at the Shaolin Temple (London), becoming experienced in using Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) and Shoalin Nei Gong (Internal Energy Work) for improving and maintaining health.
He then trained in acupuncture at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture, and followed up this with a diploma in Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage).
Andrew is influenced by the ‘Classical Acupuncture’ styles of Jeffrey Yuen, which utilise all the acupuncture meridians, as well as other treatment modalities such as essential oils.
As well as the Bright Room Community Acupuncture clinic in Stoke Newington, Andrew works privately at Holistic Health on Broadway Market.
His psychology background has also given him an interest in using acupuncture with those suffering mental-emotional conditions, such as stress, depression and insomnia. This is an area where Chinese Medicine and acupuncture is currently under-used in the UK.

Sam Ma

Sam Ma, acupuncture practitioner at Bright Room Community Acupuncture.

Sam Ma, acupuncture practitioner at Bright Room Community Acupuncture.

Hong Kong born, Sam has trained in a variety of martial arts, including Chinese, Japanese and Korean, since the age of 10.
He studied acupuncture at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture, and also learnt Chinese massage and manipulation as part of the training regime.
His Grandad was a famous and well respect Chinese Herbalist and martial artist in both Hong Kong and Macu in the early 40’s. His Grandad’s passion and knowledge was a great influence on Sam, and he has been keen to learn as much as he could about Chinese Medicine since an early age.
He has been treating people with Chinese massage since the early 80’s and started treating with acupuncture since 2010 after gaining his degree qualification.
He regularly visits  to China, which enables him to trace the roots and deepen his understanding of this long established Eastern philosophy and art.
He also practises and teaches Tai Chi and internal breathing for self cultivation to enhance longevity.
